Aspirants of Don Bosco Dibrugarh Immersed in Bible Animation Session

Dibrugarh, 28 May 2023: A transformative two-hour animation session on the Holy Bible was conducted at Don Bosco Dibrugarh, captivating the aspirants with insights into both the Old and New Testaments. On 28 May Bro. Charles and Bro. Binoy, esteemed animators, led the session, enlightening the eager participants and deepening their understanding of the scriptures.
Bro. Charles took charge of teaching the aspirants about the Old Testament, unravelling the rich stories, teachings, and historical accounts found within its pages. With his engaging storytelling skills, he transported the young minds back in time, shedding light on the wisdom and significance of the Old Testament narratives. The aspirants attentively absorbed the lessons, gaining a deeper understanding of the foundations and values that shape their faith.
In tandem, Bro. Binoy delved into the New Testament, sharing profound insights into the life, teachings, and messages of Jesus Christ and his disciples. The aspirants eagerly listened as he explored the Gospels, Epistles, and the Book of Revelation, revealing the transformative power of the New Testament teachings. Bro. Binoy’s animated delivery and relatable examples resonated deeply, igniting a sense of awe and reverence among the aspirants.
The participants were ecstatic to take part in this enlightening event, recognizing the immense value of studying and understanding the Holy Bible. The animation session not only provided them with a deeper understanding of the scriptures but also fostered a sense of spiritual growth and connection.
Rev. Fr. Nestor, the Rector of Don Bosco Dibrugarh, expressed his joy at witnessing the aspirants’ enthusiasm and active participation in the animation session. He commended Bro. Charles and Bro. Binoy for their dedication and expertise in making the Bible come alive for the young minds, instilling a sense of reverence and appreciation for the sacred texts.

Cricket Academy at Don Bosco Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh 24 May 2023 : This morning marked a momentous occasion as the Don Bosco Cricket Academy was inaugurated and blessed at Don Bosco School in Dibrugarh. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Fr Benny James SDB, the Provincial Economer of Dimapur Province. As the sun bathed the field in its warm glow, a sense of excitement and anticipation filled the air. The academy, a testament to the institution’s commitment to holistic education and sportsmanship, stood as a beacon of hope and opportunity for aspiring young cricketers. Fr Benny James, adorned in his clerical vestments, led the ceremony with grace and humility. With heartfelt prayers and blessings, he invoked God’s guidance and protection upon the academy and its future endeavours. The inauguration was met with enthusiastic cheers and applause from the students, teachers, and coaches present, who recognized the significance of this milestone. As the inaugural ceremony concluded, the academy stood ready to nurture talent, instill discipline, and foster the spirit of teamwork among the budding cricketers, carrying forward the legacy of Don Bosco’s educational vision.

Don Bosco Past Pupil Becomes Ambassador to Ethiopia

Dimapur 25 August 2020: Robert Shetkintong (Dilbung) has been posted as the next Ambassador of India to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Robert joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2001. In 2003, he was posted to the Indian Mission in Tel Aviv as a language trainee (Hebrew). On completion of language course, he was posted to the Indian Embassy in Rome, and was there for almost 4 years.  He then returned to New Delhi and served at the Headquarters between 2009 and 2012. He subsequently served at the Indian Missions in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania).

Robert hails from Keithelmanbi Village, St. Paul’s Parish Pallel, Chandel District, Manipur. His parents are Dilbung Samuel Shetwor and Mrs. Dilbung Angela Shangting. They are a devout Catholic family, rich in human and Christian virtues of love, joy, sincerity, hard work, relationship and God fearing. Robert has two sisters – elder sister is Sr. Maria Dilbung FMA and younger sister is Rose Dilbung. His father is one among the trained Catechists during the time of Fr. Larea SDB at Dibrugarh.

As a child, Robert loved to play football and spent hours at play along with his friends but would also dedicate quality time for his studies. He played the role of youth leader and proved to be a great leader and guide. He displayed leadership qualities right from his youthful days.

His schooling began in St. Joseph’s School Sugnu back in 1980s with the encouragement that came through Fr. Sebastian Chelat and many others. In 1986, he shifted to Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong in class 7 and completed the matric examination in 1990. He then went to St. Joseph’s College Bangalore for Classes 11 and 12. He completed BA (Pol Science) from St. Anthony’s Shillong while staying in St. Stephen’s hall, Shillong. He went to New Delhi for pursuing his further studies and completed his MA and M. Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

In 1990 when he and his elder sister were awaiting their matric results, just a few days before the results, it is said that his mother had a commendable dream – she was admiring two beautiful shining jewels in her palm when all of a sudden a religious sister grabbed one of them and went her way and she had just one in her palm. With prayers and wishes of friends and community, Robert’s mother’s dream of the remaining jewel in her palm continues to shine. 

Robert is married to Tingjahat Hangshing and they have two children – Sarah and Raymond.

VSDBs in Maram Khullen

Indeed 10th November 2019 was a memorable day for us, the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco, Madonna N’Pung, Maram Khullen where the blessing of our new convent took place. The Holy Mass started 10.45am. Rev. Fr. Jose Kuruvashira SDB, the Salesian provincial of Dimapur province, solemnised the Holy Eucharist and was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Cyraic, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Maninchera Assist. Parish priest, Rev. Fr. Thomas Ekka, Vice Principal of DBHSS, Maram centre,  Rev. Fr. Nebu,the province economer, Rev. Fr. T.T. Joseph, the province procurator, Rev. Fr. Benny, Secretary of the Province, and Rev. Fr. Sunny, the vice principal of Don Bosco College, Maram. 

Rev. Fr. Cyraic welcomed all the fathers, well-wishers and faithful who came to join the celebration. He introduced to the faithful all the fathers who were present during the Eucharistic celebration.

After the Holy Eucharist, Provincial Rev. Fr. Jose Kuruvashira blessed the new house. A touch of culture presented right after the religious ceremonies by the students. 

Sr. Kholia Alfonsa, the community leader of Madonna N’Pung thanked Rev. Jose, the provincial and the Salesians of  Dimapur province for inviting the sisters to serve the people at Maram Khullen. Added words of gratitude to all the priests and invitees for encouraging the community with their presence. 

Sister mentioned that the presence of Sr. Rosa FMA, The superior of Auxilium Convent, Sr. Martha FMA, Catechist and his family, Mrs. Rang ADC, Maram Khullen, Church Committee, women president and Secretary, youth president and secretary, Uncle Moses, teachers and students of St. John Paul II enabled the community to feel the warmth and support in our efforts in this mission.

She expressed her deep sense of gratitude to all the fathers who took the initiative to invite the VSDB particularly Rev. Fr. K.S. Joseph, Rev. Fr. N.J. Francis who began this project in spite  of many challenges

She thanked Br. Banarius and his staff for their enormous contribution in bringing the building into shape.  

She made an earnest appreciation to Rev. Fr. Cyraic and Fr. Roy for taking up the arduous task in completing the construction, keeping in mind the various challenges involved due to the location.

We, Madonna N’Pung are grateful to the Salesian community, Maram Khullen for all the help and support they are extending to us. May God continue to reward them.

Participants of two day National Conference on the theme Educating Youth for Social Transformation: New Paradigms and Inspiring Praxis was organized by Don Bosco Higher Education Tiruchy

25 Nov 2019: Two day National Conference on the theme Educating Youth for Social Transformation: New Paradigms and Inspiring Praxis was organized by Don Bosco Higher Education Tiruchy on 14th and 15th November 2019, at Don Bosco Media Centre, in Tiruchirappali. Educators and other stakeholders numbering about eighty five participants and fifteen volunteers were at the conference. As it was an initiative of Don Bosco Higher Education India (DBHEI) Fr.Maria Soosai SDB, the Secretary welcomed the gathering. Fr.Marcelo Farfan SDB, IUS Coordinator delivered the inaugural address. Fr.Amala Jeya Rayan, the Organizing Secretary of the Conference presented the dynamics of the Conference.

22 Nov. 2019: We are saddened by the sudden demise of Fr. Mani Parankulangara of Imphal Archdiocese, who passed away this morning at 6.30.am at CMC hospital, Imphal, Manipur, India. Of late he had loss of memory and required personal care and treatment and so arrangement was duly made in the hospital yesterday (21 Nov. 2019), however he passed away in the morning (22 Nov. 2019). Our sincere condolences to the Archbishop, fathers, brothers and faithful of Imphal Archdiocese. May he rest in peace.
