Don Bosco College Golaghat Invites Research Contributions for Annual Multidisciplinary Journal on Human Rights and Human Dignity

Golaghat, 16 June 2023: Don Bosco College Golaghat is delighted to announce the upcoming publication of its annual research journal with an ISSN, focusing on the theme of “Human Rights and Human Dignity.” The college aims to provide a platform for researchers, academicians, and practitioners to contribute original research articles in the field of social sciences.

The journal invites unpublished and original case studies, book reviews, and research articles related to the theme and sub-themes. The sub-themes for the papers include “Human Rights here and now,” “Rights of Vulnerable Groups,” “Gender Equality as a new Human Right,” “Rights of Differently Abled Persons,” and many more.

Interested individuals are cordially invited to contribute their research in their respective domains. Submissions can be sent to dramaladoss@gmail.com or pduttaoo@gmail.com. Upon submission, authors will receive a letter of acceptance or correspondence from the Chief Editor or Associate Editor of the Journal.

The submission deadlines are as follows:

  • Abstract Submission: 20th July 2023 (Deadline: 30th August 2023)
  • Full Article Submission: 30th August 2023 (Deadline: 15th September 2023)

The manuscripts can be submitted in either English or Assamese language. The article length should be a minimum of 4000 words and a maximum of 6000 words. There are no publication fees for main authors or corresponding authors.

The journal follows the APA Referencing Style for citations and references. Depending on the quality of the articles and feedback from peer reviewers, the accepted papers will be published with either an ISSN or ISBN.

5th Junior Boys National Boxing Championship to be Hosted by Don Bosco College Itanagar

Itanagar 9 June 2023: The 5th Junior Boys National Boxing Championship, organized by the Boxing Federation of India, is all set to take place from 8th to 14th July 2023. The prestigious event will be hosted by the Arunachal Pradesh Boxing Federation, with co-hosting support from Don Bosco College Itanagar.
The Championship will witness the participation of talented young boxers from across the country, competing in various weight categories, including 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80, and 80+ kilograms. The tournament is expected to draw over 600 boxers, coaches, managers, and officials, who will be accommodated at Don Bosco College Itanagar during the event.
The management and staff of Don Bosco College Itanagar are diligently preparing the campus to ensure a seamless and successful Championship. With its state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, the college has become a much sought-after venue for both state and national level events.

Christian Colleges Rank Among Top 100 in National Institutional Ranking Framework Survey

Dimapur 7 June 2023: In a recent survey conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), an initiative by the Government of India, several Christian colleges have achieved remarkable rankings, solidifying their positions among the top educational institutions in the country.

Leading the pack is St. Xavier’s College, securing the top spot among Christian colleges and placing 5th in the overall rankings. Loyola College closely follows, claiming the 7th position. St. Stephen’s College impressively secures the 14th rank, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence.

Madras Christian College secures the 16th position, while St. Joseph’s College achieves the 25th rank. Rajagiri College of Social Sciences secures the 30th position, showcasing its dedication to providing quality education. Dimapur Province Colleges Embrace World Environment Day with Innovative Celebrations

Dimapur: 5 June 2023: Colleges under the Salesian Province in Dimapur Province joined the global celebration of World Environment Day, organizing various activities to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Despite being on holiday, the colleges came up with innovative ways to mark the occasion, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment among students.

Kohima Don Bosco College demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation by organizing insightful seminars. The college aimed to educate students about pressing environmental issues, such as climate change, pollution, and sustainable practices. The seminars provided a platform for students to engage in discussions and brainstorm potential solutions, encouraging them to become proactive participants in addressing environmental challenges.

In Itanagar, Don Bosco College took a unique approach to celebrate World Environment Day. Recognizing that the students were on holiday, the college encouraged them to celebrate the event in their own respective places. Bosco Green Alliance and Don Bosco College Kohima Empower Entrepreneurs with Mushroom Cultivation Course

Kohima, 31 May 2023 :  Bosco Green Alliance, in collaboration with the Departments of Sociology and Botany at Don Bosco College, Kohima (DBCK), successfully organized a comprehensive mushroom cultivation course certificate programme from April to May 2023. The initiative aimed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to cultivate mushrooms and encourage entrepreneurship in Nagaland.

The program commenced with theory classes on April 3rd, providing participants with a solid foundation in mushroom cultivation techniques. The theory sessions, conducted by faculty members from Bosco Green Alliance, the Department of Sociology, and the Department of Botany, covered various aspects of mushroom cultivation, including spawn production and cultivation methods.

After the theory classes, participants engaged in practical sessions held on May 8th, 9th, and 10th, 2023. These hands-on sessions allowed the aspiring mushroom cultivators to apply the knowledge they had acquired and gain practical experience in the cultivation process. Participants were guided by experienced faculty members who shared their expertise and provided valuable insights throughout the practical classes.
The mushroom cultivation course certificate programme aimed to address unemployment concerns by promoting mushroom cultivation as a potential solution. Mushroom cultivation has gained recognition for its significant economic potential and relatively low capital requirements, making it an accessible option for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Zavelu, the coordinator of Bosco Green Alliance, expressed his satisfaction with the program’s outcome, stating, “We believe that mushroom cultivation can serve as a panacea to unemployment in Nagaland. Our aim was to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to embark on their entrepreneurial journey in this field.”

The program received immense support from faculty members at DBCK, with Mr. Sanihe Ariijii, the Head of the Department of Sociology, and Dr. Velhou Koza, along with Mrs. Vephreseno Yhokha from the same department, actively contributing to the successful execution of the course. Additionally, Dr. Kizukala and Mr. Anthony from the Department of Botany played instrumental roles in facilitating the practical sessions.

The project expenses for the mushroom cultivation course amounted to 6000.00, which covered the necessary resources, materials, and facilitation costs. This investment was deemed essential to provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience and equip them with the skills required to establish successful mushroom cultivation ventures.
The initiative aimed not only to teach participants the techniques of making spawn and cultivating mushrooms but also to foster their interest in entrepreneurship. By providing them with the necessary knowledge and practical experience, the programme aimed to encourage self-employment and empower individuals to explore opportunities in the mushroom cultivation sector.

The successful completion of the mushroom cultivation course certificate programme by Bosco Green Alliance and DBCK reflects their commitment to promoting sustainable entrepreneurship and addressing unemployment challenges in Nagaland.
