Salesian Province Dimapur, DB-Covid 19 AID

Dimapur: The Province of Dimapur (IND) under the aegis of AIDA, the PDO of the province, swung into action as early as 20 March 2020 when it did some sensitisation of the COVID 19 prevention measures, in Dimapur, Nagaland as well as in Longding, in Arunachal Pradesh has through leaflets and posters.

On 28 March 2020, in the District of Noney, in Manipur, the AIDA staff joined the local administration in distributing rice to the villagers.

On 7 and 8 April, 267 families were distributed nutritional packets of Rice, Dal, Potatoes, Onions, Oil, Salt,Soap.

Don Bosco Hijuguri, Tinsukia distributed Rice of 25 quintal to 440 families of migrant labourers and wage earner, auto rickshaw driver in the neighborhood.

Don Bosco Tamenglong, Manipur has distributed twenty quintals of rice through the District Administration.

Dimapur Town has three Salesian Priests at different hours of the day as counselors to help out those in anxiety, fear, or any other emotional and mental disturbances:

Don Bosco College for Covid-19 Quarantine

As a measure to prevent the community transmission of coronavirus, the Government of Kerala under the stewardship of the District Collector of Kannur took possession of Don Bosco College and the hostel facilities at Angadikadavu for quarantining people travelling to Kerala from Karnataka. Before the arrival of 31 persons, including two women and two infants, the healthcare volunteers sanitised the area. More persons are expected in the coming days as many are on an exodus to Kerala from other parts of India. The college is situated 10 kilometres from Karnataka border.

The college premise is under the watchful eyes of the police and the volunteers. Food and other medical attention is available for the quarantined regularly. The seven Salesians working in the college stay on the same campus but are at a safe distance with adequate precautions.
